What is the best way to store tea?

Tea should be kept cool, dry, and airtight. Between 10° and 25°C in an airtight opaque container. Silicon oxygen absorber packs may be used, especially if the tea is green or unroasted.

For tea leaves kept in vacuum sealed bags after opening, using a specially designed folding clip is just as good as any packaging. Especially since you can minimize the amount of space within the package by putting the clip close to the contents of the bag.

However you choose to store the tea, the amount of air within the container should be minimized for maximum freshness.

It is not necessary to keep tea in the refrigerator.

About moisture and packaging

Before the tea is opened, vacuum sealed bags are the best option to keep tea fresh. After you open the bag you’ll have to take care to make sure moisture stays out. We use a type of clip that seals the bag very well although any air-tight seal should work.

Here is a video showing you how to use the tea clip to keep your tea fresh.
